Getting Started
Q: How do I request a commission?
A: Fill out the inquiry form on the Commissions Page with as much detail as you can about what you have in mind. I'll get back to you within a few days to chat through the concept, confirm availability, and discuss pricing. Easy as that.
---
Q: Do I need to have my idea fully figured out before I reach out?
A: Not at all. A rough idea, a feeling, or even just a reference image is plenty to start the conversation. Half the fun is figuring it out together. If you know you want something but aren't sure exactly what, send it over and we'll work it out.
---
Q: How do I know if my idea is a good fit?
A: If it's something you're genuinely excited about, it's probably a great fit. I work best with fan art, character illustrations, pop culture pieces, portraits of people and pets, and gift commissions. If you're not sure, just ask - I'd much rather have the conversation than have you wonder.
---
Q: Do you take walk-in commissions, or is there a waitlist?
A: It depends on my current queue. When commissions are open, inquiries are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If I'm at capacity, I'll let you know and add you to the waitlist so you're first in line when a spot opens up.

Pricing & Payment
Q: How much does a commission cost?
A: Pricing depends on the complexity, number of characters, and intended use of the piece. I'm always upfront about cost - we'll agree on a price before any work begins, so there are no surprises. For commercial or licensing work, reach out and we'll discuss from there.
---
Q: What's the payment process?
A: A 50% deposit is required to get started. The remaining balance is due when the final piece is delivered. I accept payment via PayPal, Venmo, etc. If you have a preferred method, just ask!
---
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: Because commissions are custom work made specifically for you, deposits are non-refundable once work has begun. If something isn't working during the process, I'd much rather work through it with you than have anyone walk away unhappy - so please speak up early if something doesn't feel right.
---
Q: Can I get a quote before committing?
A: Absolutely. Just fill out the inquiry form and I'll give you a price estimate before you decide anything. No pressure, no obligation.
---
The Creative Process
Q: How involved can I be in the process?
A: As involved as you'd like to be-but please, leave the drawing to me :). I share progress check-ins during the illustration process so you can weigh in before the final piece is locked in. If something isn't landing the way you imagined, that's the time to say so - adjustments are much easier to make mid-process than after the fact.
---
Q: Can I provide reference images?
A: Please do! Reference images are incredibly helpful - photos of the subject, color palettes, screenshots, mood boards, all of it. The more visual context you can give me, the closer the final piece will be to what you're imagining.
---
Q: How many revisions are included?
A: I include 2 rounds of revisions as part of every commission. Revisions beyond that may incur an additional fee depending on the scope of the changes. That said, I'm committed to making sure you love the final piece - communication during the process is the best way to get there without needing major changes at the end. Please be aware, though, "Revision" does not mean "Start over from a blank page."
---
Q: Will my commission look like your other work?
A: Yes - every commission is illustrated in the Kellsworth Ink signature style. Warm linework, retro-inspired color, that vintage storybook feeling. I'll absolutely work with your concept and references, but the style itself remains consistent with the rest of my portfolio. If you're expecting a completely different style, I may not be the right fit - and that's okay.
---
Turnaround & Delivery
Q: How long does a commission take?
A: Most commissions are completed within 2–4 weeks depending on complexity and my current queue. I'll give you a realistic timeframe when we confirm the details, and I'll keep you updated along the way.
---
Q: I need this for a specific date - can you accommodate that?
A: Sometimes, yes! Mention your deadline in the inquiry form and I'll let you know upfront if it's workable. Rush requests may be possible depending on my schedule, though they may come with an additional fee.
---
Q: How do I receive the finished piece?
A: This will depend on the type of commission you've requested. Are we making cake toppers for a wedding or a digital art print? If it's a physical piece, we can discuss the best method of delivery for your peace of mind and mine as well. If it's a digital item, I can deliver high resolution, print-ready digitals or a high-quality print on acid-free paper that'll last for years to come. Let me know what you prefer and we'll work out the details!
---
Q: Can I print the file myself?
A: Yes! Personal use prints are included with every commission. The file you receive is high resolution and print-ready, so you can take it to any local or online print shop. Commercial or large-scale reproduction requires a separate licensing agreement - just reach out if that applies to you.
---
Rights & Usage
Q: Who owns the artwork after it's completed?
A: You own the piece as a personal artwork and are free to print and display it for personal use. I retain the copyright to the illustration itself, which means I may share it in my portfolio and on social media (I'll always credit and tag you if you'd like). Commercial use, reproduction for sale, or use in products requires a separate licensing agreement.
---
Q: Can I share my commission on social media?
A: Please do - and tag me when you do! I love seeing commissions out in the world.
---
Q: What if I want to use the artwork commercially?
A: Reach out before placing a commission and let me know your intended use. Commercial licensing is available and we can discuss terms that work for both of us.
---
Things I Don't Take On
Q: Are there commissions you won't do?
A: A few, yes. I won't create work that copies or closely imitates another artist's specific style, or projects with deadlines I genuinely can't meet. If you're not sure whether your idea falls into any of those categories, just ask - I'd rather talk it through.

Still Have a Question?
If something isn't covered here, just reach out. I read every message personally and I'm happy to chat before you commit to anything. I'm happy to note that if I can make it happen, I will.
